"But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus, and not only by his coming but also by the comfort you had given him. He told us about your longing for me, your deep sorrow, your ardent concern for me, so that my joy was greater than ever."
Often we see downcast people, and what makes things worse is the prophets of doom who delight in forecasting disasters.
When people are at their lowest, they need someone who can encourage them. Whether we are aware of the cause of the person's depression or not, find something positive and encouraging to say if you really want to comfort them.
A true follower of Jesus Christ will always try to be a stabilizing factor in a difficult situation. Even though there are prophets of doom, you can bring confidence and encouragement into the lives of those who are insecure and fearful.
I would encourage all of us to duplicate the ministry of Titus. He was a stabilizing factor for the Corinthian believers
Not only will our life be strengthened as a result, but you will also bring comfort and blessing into the lives of others. This is a very important ministry by God's grace, encouraging and inspiring those who have lost hope.
God Bless, Pastor Rick
