Tested but Secure

WEEK OF APRIL 5, 2019

And the Lord said “Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.” But I have prayed for you; that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” (Luke 22:31-32, NKJV)

Jesus loved Peter and said to him once “Simon! Simon! Satan has made a request to sift all of you as wheat but I have prayed for you that your faith will not fail. Jesus was facing arrest and crucifixion but He took the time to strengthen Peter for what was to come. He expressed His confidence in Peter even though Peter’s faith would falter, he would overcome. He might fail for a moment but his life would ultimately be victorious.

Jesus is aware of every test we will encounter. He stands ready to deliver us according to 1 Corinthians 10:13, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” He’s already interceding with the father on our behalf. When you are tempted and tested turn immediately to Jesus. He has overcome everything you can face in the world. After you have overcome you too will be able to strengthen others.
