“Then the Lord turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?” Judges 6:14 (NKJV)
Gideon’s finite understanding may have led him to believe that a victory over the Midianites would be impossible but the moment God told Gideon to fight them; victory was achievable.
When Jesus commanded His small group of followers to make disciples of all nations, they must have questioned if that was possible? When Jesus told His disciples to love their enemies, they must have wondered if that was realistic? In both cases it was possible because Jesus said it was.
Though we live with a finite understanding of life, do not discount what is possible with an infinite God. When God gives an assignment to us it is no longer an impossibility but rather it is an absolute certainty. How do you respond to an assignment that seems impossible? Do you write it off as unattainable or do we adjust our life to God’s revelation? God wants to do the impossible through our lives. All that He requires is our careful obedience to His word.
