“But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.” Matthew 9:36
There are gut-wrenching moments in life. The kind that hit you so hard it feels like someone is ripping your insides out.
Matthew suggests here that Jesus experienced one of those moments. When He saw so many people beaten down by life, facing problems and not knowing where or who to turn to for help.
At that moment Jesus looked at His disciples and said 37. “Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” 38. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:37, 38
In other words He said I need your help. There are so many that need to experience God’s compassion – I need your help with this great harvest.
Jesus is calling us to join Him in His great work today. Would you purpose in your heart to invite someone to church with you this Sunday? I’m confident God will send someone your way that you can extend an invitation to. Just a reminder that Sunday is Tailgate Sunday at Gateway. Also, I hope you can stay after worship and have lunch with us.
God Bless, Pastor Rick
