“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” (Luke 2:13-14 NKJV)
For the average person life was not noticeably different on the night of Jesus’ birth. Shepherds were sitting around their fires to keep warm while they kept watch over their sheep.
In a corner of Bethlehem, in the stable of an inn, a baby lay in a manger. While the shepherds gathered around their fire, angels gathered in a mighty choir and the calmness of the night was broken by hymns of praise. I’m sure the shepherd’s reaction was one of shock and awe. They knew what they had to do. They knew they had to find this child whose birth the angels had announced.
While we celebrate the birth of Christ this week, make sure that you personally seek Jesus and find Him, as the shepherds did on the very first Christmas night. God said if we would seek Him with all of our heart He will be found!
God Bless, Pastor Rick
