Father’s Day

Week of June 18, 2021

“And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.”  (Ephesians 6:4, NKJV)

Our children deserve a father who will model the Christian life by example and consistently teach them the truth of God’s word.  This type of behavior will only begin when we, as fathers, commit our life to Jesus Christ.

A passerby asked three stonemasons on a construction project what they were doing. The first one said he was laying brick. The second stonemason said he was building a wall. The third one said, “I am building a great Cathedral”. Now if we were to randomly ask two fathers their role concerning the family, one might say, “I am, supporting a family” and the other might say, “I am raising children.” The first father sees his job as just putting bread on the table but the second dad sees the role of fatherhood from the perspective of God. The second father is participating in the shaping of lives.

The lives we shape today will be the lives that shape tomorrow. If we are to be successful as fathers, we must take God with one hand and our children with the other. Happy Father’s Day!

God Bless, Pastor Rick
