Casting Your Cares

Week of November 6, 2020

Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7, NKJV)

If you have been a Christian for any time at all you will have discovered that it does not make you immune to problems.  The good news is we do have a Heavenly Father that we can place our every concern upon.  The Christians that Peter addressed were facing heavy persecution.  So Peter explained how he had walked with the risen Christ and he had personally experienced the love that Jesus had for His followers.  He knew that Christ was in control and capable of handling our every trial.

Casting our cares to Jesus is a choice.  It means consciously handing over our anxiety to Christ and allowing Him to carry the weight of our problems. This may be the most difficult part of trusting God in our lives.  We do not like turning over the responsibility for our problems to others.  We have been taught that self-reliance is good but if we are to be freed from the burden of our concerns we must choose to cast our cares to the hands of our Heavenly Father.

God does not distinguish between big or small concerns because he sees all.  Our Heavenly Father wants us to turn all our concerns to Him.  He stands ready and prepared to take all your burdens and carry them for you.  Will you let Him?
