A SCRIPTURAL LIFE

Week of October 30, 2020

“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46, NKJV)

Why do so many good, church-going people experience a sense of disappointment in their lives?  They faithfully attend church; they honestly feel they truly love God in their own way.  But at the same time, they feel stagnant and lacking in their spiritual experience.

Could it be the fact that they love God in their own way, instead of in a scriptural way?  They have created a form of Christianity that fits their lifestyle.

This personal version of Christianity can turn us into compromisers.  They find excuses not to forgive; they are selective about whom they want to love; their business negotiations are controlled by principles that may not be scriptural.

Scriptural Christianity means complete obedience to God and the standards set by Christ.  These expectations from God are not unreasonable because He has given us the Holy Spirit to empower us to live a victorious Christian life and live a scriptural life.

If there is a sense of disappointment in your life, open your heart to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, you will become aware that God is at work in your life.  When you sense His presence in your life, Christianity becomes meaningful, and you change because Christ has changed your heart.  Right now, do you need to ask the Holy Spirit to fan the flame once again in your heart?
