God Never Forgets

“Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb?  Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you.”  Isaiah 49:15 (NKJV)

The Bible teaches us that God never becomes preoccupied with other things that He becomes neglectful toward you or I. God said it would be more likely for a nursing mother to forget her infant than for Him to forget one of His children. The understanding of this passage is a nursing mother has a keen sensitivity to her baby and never becomes so preoccupied with other things that she neglects the essential needs of her child.

The relational understanding of a nursing mother is the imagery God chose to describe how He looks after His people. In fact, He is even more sensitive to the needs of His children than even the most loving of mothers. This is a very comforting parallel that God has given us.

Let me encourage you to not let the difficult circumstances you are facing today or in the future convince you that God has forgotten you. God is not more concerned with the needs of others than He is with yours today. This scripture teaches us that God looks upon us with the same love, interest and concern as a nursing mother would look upon her precious infant. It should reassure us to know that the Heavenly Father’s love for us is even greater.
